We knew we had to be different and we knew we didn't want to add, in any way, to the huge amount of waste that our planet is currently enduring on a daily basis.
Luckily, we're not the only people that feel this way and after searching high and low to find the most environmentally friendly, sustainable packaging we could... we are now incredibly proud to announce that all of our packaging is environmentally friendly from production to disposal.
Meet Vegware, the little pots and packets you will find inside your Rosso Pizza Box.
These little pots and packets are made from PLA. PLA stands for polylactic acid. It is a plant-based compostable bioplastic. Forget biodegradable, this means nothing when used without a timescale. Vegware pots are compostable because they break down in under 12 weeks - you can find out more on the Vegware website.
All our ingredients are boxed and kept cool with a WoolCool liner. Wool is one of nature’s most amazing ‘smart fibres’, with a complex structure and natural properties that cope with extremes of cold and heat. Wool is one of the most sustainable natural materials, being available in abundance as a by-product of rearing sheep. The wool insulation is totally compostable and biodegradable, releasing valuable nitrates back into the soil.
Woolcool has been rigorously tested and proven to keep produce within the temperature ranges required by the Food Standards Agency.
Of course, Woolcool keeps products warm too!
We love to see how customers have re-used their wool cool liners, check out #letsboxclever on social media and you will see some fantastic ideas that the Woolcool family have put together, such as hanging basket liners, plumping up your pet's bed and even felt crafting!
